Terms of competition

The 18th Annual of the International Violin Competition of Master Josef Muzika will take place from 26th to 27th April 2014 at the premisses of Gymnazium Nova Paka (Kumburska street, nr. 740, Nova Paka 509 01).

There are six categories for pupils and students of music schools, private music schools and conservatories, age: 6 to 18 years.

Terms of competition for categories:

1. – 2. category

FOR 1st CATEGORY 6 – 7 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 2006, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 2006 and younger).

ONE-ROUND CONTEST

For 1st category arbitrary composition (max. 5 min.) is needed.

FOR 2nd CATEGORY 8 – 9 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 2004, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 2004 – 30. 6. 2006).

ONE-ROUND CONTEST WITH COMPULSORY COMPOSITION

For 2nd category arbitrary composition (max. 5 min.) is needed and

compulsory composition Jiří MATYS “Písničky č. 1 + 2 (Songs nr. 1 + 2)”

Both compositions (1st the arbitrary one and 2nd the compulsory one) shall be performed in sequence.

3. – 4. category

FOR 3rd CATEGORY 10 – 11 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 2002, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 2002 – 30. 6. 2004).

TWO-ROUND CONTEST

FOR 4th CATEGORY 12 – 13 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 2000, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 2000 – 30. 6. 2002).

TWO-ROUND CONTEST

FOR THE 1st ROUND

For both categories romantic or postromantic composition is needed (for example Brahms – the Hungarian dance, Dvořák – Humoreska, Paganini – Sonatina, Mlynarski – Mazurek, Moszkowski – The Spanish dance) or a movemenf of violin concert by Rieding, Seitz, Accolay, Beriote, and so on.

Max. length 10 min.

FOR THE 2nd ROUND:

a) some part of baroque or classical composition (max. length 5 min.).

b) the 3rd category compulsory composition: Luboš FIŠER „AMOROSO” for violin and piano.

c) the 4th category compulsory composition: Bohuslav MARTINŮ “ARABESKA n. 4”.

Max. total length 10 min.

5. category

FOR 5TH CATEGORY 14 – 15 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 1998, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 1998 – 30. 6. 2000).

TWO ROUND CONTEST

For the 1st round

Masterly romantic or postromantic, or modern composition is needed, or at least a part of concert, for example by Čajkovskij, Dvořák, Laub, Ondříček, Sarasate,Vieuxtemps, Wieniawski, Schönberg, Szymanowski, Ysaye, and so on.

Max. length 15 min.

FOR THE 2nd ROUND

a) baroque or classical composition or a part of some concert (for example Bach, Bieber,Corelli, Händl, Lecleir, Locatelli, Vejvanovský, Vitali, Vivaldi or Haydn, Mozart, Mysliveček, and so on).

b) compulsory composition by Evžen ZÁMEČNÍK „CANTO PER VIOLINO E PIANO“.

Max length 15 min.

 

6. category

FOR 6th CATEGORY 16 – 18 YEARS OLD (e. i. competitors born after 30. 6. 1995, which means date of birth starting from 1. 7. 1995 – 30. 6. 1998).

TWO-ROUND CONTEST

For the 1st round

The terms are the same as for the 5th category

Max length 15 min.

FOR THE 2nd ROUND

a) the same terms as for the 5th category.

b) compulsory composition by Leoš JANÁČEK „BALADA“ (Ballad ).

Max length 15 min.

The participation fee: for 1. – 2. category: 500,– Kč. For 3. – 6. category: 600,– Kč.

The charge for accommodation and lunch: 250 Kč / 1 person / 1 night, lunch: 70 Kč / 1 person.

Participation fee  and the other charges must be paid to the account of the organizer, nr. 112598932/0300 (CSOB bank)on 30. 3. 2014 at the latest. Variable code: date of birth of the competitor. All payments are non-refundable.
Please, don´t send the payment to the account of the organizer in the currency EURO. You pay the payment in the day of the competition in CZK currency!
